The boisterous and outspoken powerhouse from the North East Sister Suzie doesn’t do things by halves. Big voice, bigger personality and absolutely no prisoners taken. She commands the stage, owns the room and delivers every song with emotion, attitude, and always with an enormous grin on her face. If you're not with us she'll grab you by the scruff of your neck until you are!
Playing with a band who are built for live music, with world class talent, energy to burn and attitude to spare. They're exciting and bring new life to Sister Suzie with some funky dirty grooves, big riffs and a lot of fun. This is music for dancing, getting sexy and losing yourself for a couple of hours. Sister Suzie - who closed the three-day Tenby Blues Festival last night - took a shot at the blues purists who define the form so narrowly. And then she proceeded to give a raucous demonstration of what the blues actually used to be - and still can be.
So nothing had quite prepared us for the visual and aural explosion that was Sister Suzie. She has a huge and beautiful voice (she's no shouter or screamer) and a huge stage presence to match. Backed by a perfect band she danced, strutted and somehow managed to both stand and lie almost horizontal at the same time. The whole effect was sensual, sexual and often downright dirty, as she powered through irresistibly soulful blues numbers that seemed to come from the heart, the gut and every part of her body.
